Small Group Ministry at SSUC
and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. I Corinthians 12:6-7
What is a Small Group? An intentional
Face-to-face gathering Ranging in size
Regularly meeting together
To accomplish an agreed upon purpose
Based on agreed upon principles and values
This process helps participants to see the church as a place where the importance of fulfilling lives is more important than any one programme that may exist in the pastoral charge... By taking ownership of their own call to ministry, the participants experience new ways of acting in today's society. A new climate for participating in society opens up for those who have fully taken part in the small group process (Robert Johnson).
Small Group Ministry is one in which people gather together in groups of 3-12 around a shared activity or project. The ministry upholds the Christian tradition, reflected in Jesus' ministry, or gathering in small groups to live out the gospel call for fellowship, worship, study, support, spiritual growth and social change. These groups can focus on almost any activity, which need not be strictly church-related. God is with us whether we name our work 'church' or not.
If you have an idea for a new group, or if you would like to join an existing one, please contact Bruce and Linda Hutchinson
